I roared as all of the rage inside of me refused to find an outlet.

Fucking Hunter.

Damn Dark Mage.

My wings scratched against my confines and I slashed out, my claws meeting solid stone as I roared. My head throbbed as the majority of my rage bounced back at me, making me growl as I lashed against the Hellfire chains that kept me pinned.

“Lose again?” asked the Dean, safe on the other side of my prison.

I growled. “All I need is time. Luckily, I have all the time in the world.” I couldn’t starve. I couldn’t die. The only way I could leave this realm is by being banished back to Hell and now that I’d come out to play, I wasn’t leaving until I got what I’d come for.

Payback.

“Tell me who it is that you seek,” the Dean ordered as she opened the eye-slit to the door, sending faint light from her flashlight through that disappeared into the darkness of the fog. “I could ease your suffering. There are cages upon cages of victims you could torment.”

I sniffed. “You mean those pathetic excuses for supernaturals that can’t even overcome my mist?” They didn’t have enough anger in their hearts to be exploited, so one whiff of my dark energy and they fell into a coma. Not exactly the riveting time I was hoping for.

She shrugged. “If you told me who you were after, perhaps I could help.”

“So you could kill them? No thanks.”

She smirked. “Oh, you know me well, demon.”

Yes, I knew this immortal all too well. She’d sold her soul to my brother, Lucifer, in exchange for immortality and power. The catch, though, had been her lover’s life.

Oh, he had so much delicious rage to work with. I still had him in Hell trapped where I fed on his hatred for her and for her husband, King Arthur. Of course, the King was long dead by now and since I hadn’t seen him in Hell, was probably living it up in the clouds, but Lancelot didn’t have to know that. As far as he was concerned, she was the reason he’d died and burned in Hell.

I wondered if she’d actually be successful in finding a Vessel to contain him. Whoever the poor soul was would probably burn up in two seconds flat, but that was just something she’d have to figure out on her own. If she wanted to take him, fine. I had bigger issues to deal with.

Like being a Virtue to a Champion of Calamity.

Nobody owned me, and it boiled my blood that some female thought she could control me.

“We’re done here,” I growled, turning and flicking my tail over the eye-slit. I jabbed, hoping to take the Dean’s eye while I was at it, but she was impressively fast for her age. She chuckled as she closed the peephole and sealed it over with magic, merging it with the door so that no one else could see me.

“Keep your secrets, Cole. I’ll find out who it is you’re so hungry for, and when I find him, or her, I’ll be sure to let you know.
